There was no class on it in College or Graduate School. 

You heard about it here first at least this version or definition.

WAR is defined in the Webster's dictionary as:
a state of open and declared armed hostile conflict between states or nations.
a state of hostility, conflict, or antagonism.
a struggle between opposing forces or for a particular end.
to be in active or vigorous conflict.

As a Bio-Sociologist/Psychologist it was easy to transition this concept to Politics and its nature.

Humans are unique as a species in that that our bodies contain many advanced biological systems that are necessary to give it life and allow it to evolve as it gets older or more mature. As we grow our biological systems evolve or mature giving us the ability to learn as we grow. There are simple or basic systems in all life organisms, the more complex the systems the more advanced the organism. Following?

Politics is an entity or organism (similar to a body) that is made up of systems, the more advanced the systems the more advanced the politics of government. As the politics of government grows or matures so goes the systems that are necessary that give it life.Simply:

Human Body (organism) = Government (organization) 
Biological Systems of the Body = Political Systems of the Government
Comparing the systems of the body to the systems of the government is therefore called
Bio - Politics 
An example of this term can be applied to War 
The Biological definition of War 
can simply be explained as a disease or infection that causes the cells in your body 
to become hostile, conflicted, antagonistic while fighting other cells in the body. Your biological systems have no choice but to declare war and attack those cells that are bad, cancerous, infected, diseased, or alien such as a virus or bacteria that threatens or terrorizes your body and life force.
Sound Familiar Yet?
IS THIS FAMILIAR AS WELL
"God created Man in his Image" or visa versa "Man was created in God's Image" 
This being said, 
one may conclude that the human body and its systems are designed or created perfectly for life. 
Human Bodies are limited only by its own individual life cycle while the Human Species has no limits.
A Government employee has a term limit while government itself does not have a limit.

Each part of our body is governed by different bio-systems, 
while the world is governed by different poli-systems,
Each system is necessary for life to continue on its way.

When our bodies are attacked by disease, virus, bacteria, or any alien object our white blood cells go the war as well as other bio-chemical systems that will attack the intruder or terrorist until it is completely removed, the body systems all work together to accomplish this in order to preserve life, if one part of the body is not cooperating in this battle then your life force is in danger of going into shock or dying
WE NEED TO EMBRACE THIS THOUGHT AND UNDERSTAND HOW THE BODY WORKS
If your body systems are fully engaged in battle but your mind is not engaged in the battle as well there is a good chance you will die. 
SOUND FAMILIAR YET?
If our troops (bio-systems) are fully engaged in defeating this disease but the politicians (the mind) are not fully engaged in defeating this disease there is a good chance our government and way of life will die.

GOD CREATED HUMANS AND ITS SYSTEMS IN ITS IMAGE THEREFORE IT MUST BE PERFECT
WHY FIGHT OR CHALLENGE THE SYSTEMS THAT WERE CREATED BY GOD.
If it is good enough for the Body it must be good enough for Government
The Challenge is for the peaceful co-existence of the different systems that is illustrated when the body is in perfect homeostasis and all threats are removed. 
We need to remove these threats entirely in order to achieve perfect governmental homeostasis. 
They attacked us and therefore pose a constant threat until fully removed. 
They are Cancer to us and must be removed completely otherwise it will spread or grow back again making it impossible to achieve world homeostasis or peace.

WHY IS IT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND? 
LEARN FROM THE BODY AND HOW IT WORKS AFTER ALL IT WAS GOD'S CREATION.
